When I first saw this thing floating in the water, I thought it was a discarded beach toy. When I realized it was a jellyfish, I became obsessed with getting a shot of the setting sun shining through from behind. I got as close as I dared, but couldn't really control what was happening with the waterproof bag around my little point-and-shoot. When I asked some marine biologists back on the island what it was, they told me I had been swimming with a Portuguese man-of-war. That was a close call
